No time to be sober
“This is
No Time to Be Sober” – Modern Lady Agnew An iconic portrait in a new guise by Hans Breuker This striking reinterpretation of Lady Agnew of Lochnaw – originally painted by John Singer Sargent – is given a cheeky, modern twist in Hans Breuker’s signature style. Instead of a restrained aristocracy, we see a flamboyant lady celebrating life with a bottle of champagne in her hand and a pink lipstick to die for. With coarse, expressive lines and bright accents, Breuker gives a nod to the past and brings back his beloved theme: champagne, fun and a touch of rebellion The graffiti-like text “This is no time to be sober” reinforces the contemporary character and makes this work a perfect eye-catcher for lovers of art with an attitude.
